Born in Essen, grew up on the Lower Rhine.

1980-1983
Apprenticeship as a machine fitter

1983-1986
Training as a stonemason and stone sculptor

1988
Commissioned works in bronze, steel and stone

2000
Expo Hannover in collaboration with other artists

Master stonemason and stone sculptor examination in Düsseldorf

2011
Sculpts his own freelance works and commissions for artists in private and public spaces in steel, stone and bronze

2022
Opened my own studio in Goch

Work

 

I particularly favor fine-grained granites and basalts (black Swedish gabbro) for my work.
Gabbro is an extremely strong hard stone that is permanently resistant to frost and aggressive influences.

The works are thus consistent over the centuries.

This stone can only be worked with great physical effort, special tools and a great deal of skill.
