Granite is hard and resists machining, so shaping it requires a great deal of physical effort. A horizontal sculpture requires a good balance between mass and stability.
The symmetrical cones on the creature’s back bring structure to the work and guide the viewer’s gaze.
An ideal location would be close to the water. Perhaps by a pond, on a flat stone that protrudes into the water – or by a stream. It almost seems as if the crocodile becomes the silent guardian of the element of water.
